Roam
⭢ Project Overview
Roam is a travel app designed specifically for people who enjoy camping, RVing, and caravanning across Australia and New Zealand.
The app features a robust mapping and booking system that connects users to over 5,000 public and private campgrounds, parks, and caravan sites. The brand’s design process focused on conveying a sense of bold enthusiasm, enhanced by a vibrant color palette of forest green, lime, and orange to reflect an adventurous and determined spirit.
The UI/UX development began with an extensive research phase to identify the essential features users need to discover new destinations and plan their trips—from short day outings to extended, multi-stop holidays.
Roam’s mapping and trip tracking functionality is built on the OpenStreetMap framework and powered by the GraphHopper routing engine. This is overlaid with comprehensive datasets from Australia and New Zealand, as well as integrated state park APIs.
A peer-to-peer (P2P) rating system, along with photo sharing, comments, and chat functionality, complements the core mapping and trip planning features—allowing users to connect with fellow travelers and access real-time location-based insights.
